MY BOOKS

1). ALL ABOUT THE BANJO UKE - A PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPANION’ by John Croft (2022).

This is my latest book and it can be purchased in its own right or as as accompanying publication to my first. It contains 192 pages and around 497 photographs which show a variety of instruments made by at least 38 different manufacturers. Most pages contain at least two colour photographs, one showing the top of the instrument and one showing the back. The book has been produced to the same design, size, and top quality as my first one (details below) and I am delighted by how it has turned out. £30 (plus p&p).

2). ALL ABOUT THE BANJO UKE by John Croft (2018).

I’m proud to say that this book has sold in over 17 countries and has been universally acclaimed by it’s readers, and ‘Ukulele’ magazine in the USA called it ‘the definitive book on the Banjo Uke’, and many friends and customers have kindly referred to it as a ‘Must Have’.

This book is a top quality, A4 size, 300 page hardback book with an attractive dust jacket with photographs on the front and rear covers. All 16 chapters and 300 pages are printed on very high quality paper in order to show the detail in all the photos, and everything is held together with a high quality stitched and glued binding - all of which combine to give it a hefty net weight of over 1.9 kg. The title is also printed on the spine of the hard cover (in gold). The history of the Banjo Uke is told from its invention by John Bolander and its further development by the Keech brothers, through to the great vintage (1920’s) manufacturers of Ludwig, Gibson, Abbott and Bacon (including Bacon & Day). It contains a large number of high quality colour photographs together with details of the companies and the instruments that they made, together with much more information and photographs about other great makers past and present. This book also includes information about the great Case makers as well as extensive details about the ownership of the late George Formby’s banjo ukes, and it is also full of interesting facts and stories about a multitude of people (including a chapter on the late George Harrison). This book was seven years in the making and it was the first one in the World ever to be written specifically about the Banjo Uke. £40 (plus p&p).

These MP3 backing tracks are absolutely superb. They have been produced from the original recordings but with George Formby’s voice and uke playing deleted. For the first time this allows you to play along to George Formby’s songs but backed by the music from the original recordings. How brilliant can you get! Well done Sean Moyses! Further details to follow.
